Woman Artist to Woman Artist

Monika Czarska – Aleksandra Gieraga

White poem

I have invited Aleksandra Gieraga to the Woman Artist to Woman ArtistWhite poem project.

I have asked her to write ten words related to her work.

I have written down my ten words.

During the recording, Ola reads the words related to my work and I explain them. Then I read Ola’s words and she responds. The reaction to the answers is an artistic gesture that arises while writing a poem – our conversation.

The conversation was followed by making drawings which we later exchanged.

Monika: My name is Monika Czarska. I am an artist.

My words are:

A NEED

AN ANALYSIS

A PROCESS

A THOUGHT

SILENCE

A FORM

INTIMACY

A PATH

A WORD

A RESPONSE

Ola: My name is Aleksandra Gieraga. I am an artist.

AWARENESS

REALITY

A BREATH

A RELATIONSHIP

AN EVENT

GREYNESS

SILENCE

A REFLECTION

A REPETITION

MEMORY

Monika: Awareness.

Ola: It’s a state of mind, defining yourself, grounding yourself in yourself.

A need.

Monika:

What is “yes”?

What is “no”?

What is “love”?

What is “happiness”?

What is “an encounter”?

What is “pride”?

What is “anger”?

What is “a word”?

Reality.

Ola: I perceive it as the totality of everything that I function in, all exteriority and interiority, intellectual and emotional, mine and yours, imagined and real, it contains three times, and perhaps more, the totality.

An analysis.

Monika: A meaning, front, reverse, complementation.

A breath.

Ola: It is the first and last activity given and received.

A process.

Monika: A thought, search, decisions, time.

A relationship.

Ola: What happens b e t w e e n, also between two colours.

A thought.

Monika: My thoughts in motion. A note, direction, line, trace.

An event.

Ola: It determines the time, it passes away and turns into nothingness, but before that it changes something or someone.

Silence.

Monika: A distance, aaaaaaaaah!!!!!! (shouting)

Greyness.

Ola: The colour of almost everything, an object, substance, air, but also a December sky and hour of dawn and dusk. Also dirt.

A form.

Monika: Subordination, hierarchy, awareness, exploration, symmetry, mathematics, geometry.

Silence.

Ola: It gives you a chance to discover qualities of attentiveness, seeing and hearing in yourself.

Intimacy.

Monika: A mystery, intuition, song, poem, philosophy, touch, eye.

A reflection.

Ola: Takes off the first layer, a shell, helps to tame; becomes a reference point, is a form of cognition.

A path.

Monika: My thoughts are running. How are they running? Synapses, connections, intersections, dispersions, sensations, memories, experiences, readings, hearings, premonitions.

A repetition.

Ola: Once again, the same or nearly the same with an atomic, individual, global scope.

A word.

Monika: A meaning = a shape = a place = a medium. Words enchanted into symbols. Own language.

Memory.

Ola: A substance which is constant and changeable at the same time. What is constant is the base on which everything else functions, what is changeable concerns newly discovered meanings. The first memory, cellular memory may be related to the structures of the generations present within us.

A response.

Monika: A map of a concepts. A map of thoughts. Peace.
